The Only Question that Matters About Email

the only question that matter about email

Now that we’ve launched Timyo, we are going to be moving away from some of the more abstract, philosophical questions we’ve explored here before and instead focus on how Timyo can help solve some of the problems that we’ve discussed about email.

But first, I thought it would be good to talk about the only question, ultimately, that matters when talking about Timyo:

Are you happy with email the way it is, or would you prefer to know at a glance what is being asked of you and when?

If you like it the way it is:

Congratulations! You’ve got email that works perfectly for you. Please enjoy the rest of your day.

Okay, now that they’re gone…man, what was with those people? Are they crazy?! Email sucks right now! It’s nuts that we all take for granted that you have to open any email that may be important, then read it and try to figure out when you need to reply, rather than just being told quickly and easily right at the top what you need to do and when.

It shouldn’t have to be this way, and I feel very comfortable saying that email at the top of 2016 is less than ideal. And if you wish email were better, then that means you do, too.

Timyo is working to change email for the better. Our founders looked at email and realized that the worst thing about it was that it was missing an entire dimension: Emails were designed to easily answer the questions “Who?” (The “To:” and “From:” fields), and “What?” (the subject line), but there was no way to simply say “When?”—when I would like you to look at this, and when (and if) I would like you to reply.

Until now.

Timyo is designed to introduce “When” — the missing third dimension — to email. By letting the sender quickly and easily say “when”, Timyo saves time and reduces stress for sender and recipient alike. And since all of us are both senders and recipients when it comes to email, it’s win-win all around.

Once you think of it, it seems so obvious: how has email been ignoring the “when” for so long?

In the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a closer look at how Timyo adds clarity to email, increasing productivity in your workday, and ultimately contributing to a greater peace of mind.

In the meantime, I hope that your 2016 is already off to a happy, productive start!

And in case you are somehow reading this but don’t yet have Timyo, I have great news:

It’s available!

When?

Right now!*

*Unless you don’t have an iPhone, in which case: Sorry! We’re working hard to have Timyo ready for you soon!
