A Simple Solution for Sophisticated Email

A Simple Solution for Sophisticated Email

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

—Leonardo da Vinci*

It’s no secret that Steve Jobs was a big fan of simplicity. In fact he used the above quote (or misquote, see footnote) to introduce the Apple II, way back in 1978:

Apple.II.1977.102637933 (dragged)

That focus on simplicity has been an essential component of everything Apple has done in the past 40 years, and surely one of the most important factors contributing to their unprecedented success.

From Timyo’s inception, we have sought to emulate that relentless focus on simplicity. Not only in terms of design, but also in the very essence of the product itself. Ultimately, the problem with email is a human problem, and so here’s another quote:

A human problem requires a human solution.”

—Leonardo da Vinci**

Timyo’s approach to fixing email has been not to complicate the process by throwing sophisticated algorithms at your inbox, but to pay attention to the way humans actually act, how we actually think, and then designing a simple solution that takes advantage of—rather than works around—our common human nature.

We think that by cutting to the core of the problems with the email status quo, by focusing exclusively on the human element and designing something that works best for actual humans, Timyo has used simplicity to come up with a simple solution.

Imagine that now, every email you receive, you will see immediately what you need to do and when you need to do it by, before even opening the email…

Is that useful? Yes.

Is that simple? Yes.

And, you have to admit, that’s pretty sophisticated (whoever actually said it).

*Actually, probably William Gaddis, but hey, it’s a good quote.

**Also actually, a way less smart person wrote that, but a da Vinci byline really classes up any quote.
