Plugin to the future of email

timyo email plugin for Gmail on Chrome

So, did you know that Timyo has a plugin for Gmail on Chrome?

Some people do, some don’t, but to be honest, we haven’t really pushed this knowledge too heavily to the public. Of course we want people to use it and tell us what they think about it, but just like our app launch, we have started with a smaller subset of our total future audience in the hopes to gather data and build the most relevant product for our current and future users.

Much more than an email productivity app

From the get-go, Timyo was never meant to be, “just an email productivity app” – Timyo, (which, by the way, stands for “Time Is MY Own”,) is built to be a complete set of tools that allow our users to take control of their email and eventually all forms of digital communication and collaboration. The app and the plugin are just the start to a very robust suite of tools available for everybody on any platform.

In fact, we came very close to building a complete online email client that had all of the features the Timyo app has and could be accessed from anything with a browser. This email client was meant to completely replace the Gmail client for our users and really allow them to embrace our time-focused way of dealing with email.

I know that all sounds very ambitious for a startup, (it is and we are!) so let’s dial it back to the present and talk about the plugin that we have chosen to start with for Gmail on Chrome.

The “app and plugin combo”

Ultimately, we decided against a full email client and opted to use the existing infrastructure that Gmail already provides for users around the world. The plugin itself allows our users to quickly manage their email on the go, by swiping with the Timyo app, then easily reviewing them on their desktop/laptop. This way, the user can stay focused on what needs to be done today, by simply viewing their “Today” folder from within Gmail. The plugin also allows our users to continue sending emails with time and action expectations set, all with the added convenience of a full-size keyboard – we know that nobody wants to compose long emails from their mobile device and with the plugin, they don’t have to!

This plugin and the app are really just the start to what we envision as a complete system for dealing with the ever-increasing digital communications in today’s world. New communication solutions such as Slack will pop up – and we love Slack for real-time communications – but email is not going away any time soon. We have an Outlook and Apple Mail client in the works and this is our next step to expanding our audience and increasing productivity for more users, so look for those in the near future.

And if you haven’t yet, give the “app and plugin combo” a try – we really think it will save you time and that is our gift to you.
